This diamond formed in extremely high temperatures and pressures about 150km underneath the surface of the earth. It took approximately three billion years for it to come into existence and was brought to the crust of the earth by volcanic eruptions. Of all the diamonds mined, only 5% are of gem-quality, and an even smaller fraction carry the story of where they came from.
