Carigo cafe connoiseur
- Carico Café Connoisseur CEO Mwambu Wanendeya told Reuters a blockchain-certified shipment of one of its coffee products, Bugisu Blue, arrived in South Africa last month. Carico Café Connoisseur said the move could help to boost farmers’ incomes, as consumers are usually prepared to pay more for goods that can been traced back to their origins. “Consumers are willing to pay more if they can know where exactly the coffee is coming from,” he said.
- Every step of the beans’ journey – from when farmers drop them off at collection centers to warehousing, inspection by regulators and shipping – is recorded. The blockchain certification means consumers can trace the coffee’s journey by using their smartphones to scan the product’s QR codes or via the certification site provenance.org.
The functioning of this system is fairly simple; the bags of coffee beans will be wrapped in Blockchain technology Ugandan Flag. These packages will have coffee that will be traced using Blockchain. The coffee company will make use of DLT to track coffee’s raw materials as it moves from the Farm to the stores
The company starts tracking the information right when the coffee is collected from the farms and loaded into the shipment. These have, and all the information is stored on the ledger. Once the consignment starts moving, integrated Blockchain ledger makes it easy for anyone to trace the coffee. All this information is stored in the ledger when it reaches different locations like farms, warehouses, inspection center and finally to the store.
